Use this troubleshooting tree to help diagnose problems when errors are reported
by the waveform monitor’s audio path diagnostics.
Are
diagnostic errors
reported?
Power off the instrument, remove the
Input Module and the Audio Module.
Check for bent pins on the Main board.

Run the Audio Path
Diagnostics from the
Configuration menu.
No
Yes
Is
signal present at
each test
point?
No
Yes
Check for the presence of audio signal on the Audio Module using the
following instructions:
1. Connect the HD video generator with embedded audio to Input A.
2. Press PRESET, touch -more-, then Restore Factory Settings.
3. Press INPUT,setAudio: Embedded.
4. With the test oscilloscope, check test points TP29, TP30, and
TP32 on the Audio Module for a 3 V AES data signal with
transition every 163 ns.
If problems persist, refer
to Check for Problems on
page 4--27.

Yes
Replace the faulty Audio
module.
No

Replace the faulty Audio
module.

pins OK? No

Straighten pins or replace
Main board.
Replace the faulty Input
module.
