Removal and Installation Procedures
4--14 WFM700 Series Waveform Monitors Service Manual
Read the entire plug-in module installation steps before proceeding.
1. Identify the instrument slot in which you will install the plug-in module (see
Figure 4--6).
HSlot 1 CPU Module (see Note below)
HSlot 2 1st Video Module (WFM7HD, WFM7A, or WFM7M)
HSlot 3 2nd Video Module (WFM7HD, WFM7A, or WFM7M)
HSlot 4 Option DG Audio Module (WFM7DG)
HSlot 5 Reference Module
HSlot 6 Real Time Display Module (see Note below)
NOTE. Plug-in modules will not operate if they are not installed in the proper
slots and will cause a failure in the power up diagnostics.
Video Modules: Before you can install a WFM7HD, WFM7A, or WFM7M video
module in slot 3, you must have one of these modules installed in slot 2.
CPU and Real Time Display Modules: With the introduction of the “B” version
of the Real Time Display module, you must replace the CPU or Real Time
Display modules with the same version, “A” or “B,” that was installed in the
instrument, or else you must replace both modules. Only the following combina-
tions of CPU and Real Time Display boards will function in the instrument:
Version A: CPU 671-4528-xx & Real Time Display 671-4529-xx
Version B: CPU 671-5751-xx & Real Time Display 671-5661-xx
2. Loosen the screw from the bottom of the unneeded rear panel spacer and pull
it up and out of the instrument chassis.
CAUTION. When inserting a plug-in module, slide the module straight down to
avoid damaging the EMI flaps on the rear panels.
Be sure that the white ejector lever is level with the module, so that it won’t get
jammed in the fan housing as you install the module.
