7.3. Selecting an Alarm Notification Method
When a Toll Fraud Alarm or No-Data Alarm is generated, the PollCat III offers several options
for notification. In addition to the ALM Indicator, PollCat III can also provide notification via
your PC, modem, or pager.
Although the notification method can be changed as needed, only one alarm mode may be
selected at any given time. Command ^B87 is used to select one of the following alarm
notification methods:
·Alarm Off: No alarm notification is provided. The ALM LED and Alarm Port are
disabled.
·Local: Alarm notification is sent via cable to a Local PC. The ALM LED and Alarm Port
are enabled.
·Remote: Alarm notification is sent via modem to a Remote PC. The ALM LED and Alarm
Port are enabled.
·Pager (Alpha): Alarm notification is sent via modem to your alphanumeric Pager. The
ALM LED and Alarm Port are enabled.
·Report: PollCat III will dial the ALARM# and execute a command string (Command
^B04). In most cases, the Command String downloads data to a remote PC via modem.
The ALM LED and Alarm Port are enabled.
·Pager (Numeric): Alarm notification is sent via modem to a standard numeric Pager. The
ALM LED and Alarm Port are enabled.
7.3.1. Alarm Off (^B87,0)
When Alarm Off is selected, the system will not notify you if a Toll Fraud Alarm or No-Data
Alarm is generated. The ALM LED and Alarm Port are also disabled. In Alarm Off mode, the
only way to determine if an alarm has been generated is to access the Command Mode and use
^B83 to check Alarm Clue Counter status.
To select the Alarm Off mode, enter the Command Mode and type ^B87,0 [Enter].
