Database Installation Failure After Manual Uninstallation
of SQL Server Express 2008
Issue: The WDM database installation fails after you manually uninstall the existing SQL Server Express
2008, and use the Install New Database option in the installer.
Resolution: To resolve this issue:
1. Uninstall SQL Server Express 2008 R2 from Add\Remove Programs.
2. Launch the Services window from Control PanelAdministrative Tools.
3. Delete the MSSQL$RapportDb Service
4. Delete MSSQL10_50.RAPPORTDB from the SQL Server Express Installation folder.
5. Delete the RapportDB registry entry from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft
\Microsoft SQL Server\Instance Names\SQL.
6. Delete the MSSQL10_50.RAPPORTDB registry entry from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE
\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server.
7. Delete the RAPPORTDB registry entry from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft
\Microsoft SQL Server.
8. Restart the WDM Installer.
